Request your work permit review

A work permit lets you work legally in Canada. Which permit you need depends on your job offer, your employer, and your long term plans. Some routes need a Labour Market Impact Assessment first. Others are LMIA exempt. We tell you which route fits your situation and file it right the first time.

The main routes

Every type of Canadian work permit.

  • LMIA based permits for jobs backed by a Labour Market Impact Assessment
  • LMIA exempt permits under the International Mobility Program, including CUSMA professionals and intra company transfers
  • Global Talent Stream permits for tech workers, processed in as little as two weeks
  • Open work permits, including spousal open work permits
  • Bridging open work permits so you can keep working while your PR is in process
  • Post graduation work permits, extensions, and status restoration

What to know

How the system works.

  1. 01

    Where every file starts

Most Canadian work permits come through one of two programs. The Temporary Foreign Worker Program covers jobs that need a Labour Market Impact Assessment, where the employer proves no Canadian was available for the role. The International Mobility Program covers LMIA exempt permits based on trade agreements, company transfers, and reciprocal benefit. Which program you fall under decides everything that follows.

  2. 02

    Permits that skip the LMIA

Trade agreements like CUSMA, intra company transfers, and significant benefit categories let certain workers avoid the LMIA entirely. Eligibility turns on your citizenship, your role, and your employer's structure. We confirm the exemption holds before you rely on it.

  3. 03

    Permits that need one

If your job offer needs an LMIA, your employer applies to Service Canada first, and you apply for the permit once it is approved. The two applications have to line up exactly. We prepare both sides together so they do.

  4. 04

    The fast lane for tech

Tech and specialized roles on the Global Talent Occupations List qualify for two week processing through the Global Talent Stream. If you work in tech, this is often the fastest way into Canada.

  5. 05

    Permits without an employer

Open permits are not tied to one job. Spouses of certain workers and students, recent graduates, and PR applicants waiting on a decision can qualify. A bridging open work permit keeps you working while your PR application is in process.

  6. 06

    Where this leads

Canadian work experience is the strongest currency in Express Entry and most provincial programs. We structure your permit strategy so the time you spend working counts toward permanent residence.

Why us

Why work with us on your permit?

The right category, chosen deliberately

LMIA based, LMIA exempt, or open. We map your job offer against every category and file the one most likely to be approved.

The employer side handled too

If your offer needs an LMIA, we run the employer's application as well, so both sides of the file move together.

Strong first submissions

Officers refuse vague applications. We document the job, your qualifications, and your ties properly the first time.

Fast starts, flat fees

Most work permit files kick off within three business days of your consult, at a fee quoted up front.

FAQ

Work permit questions, answered.

Ask a question
How long does a work permit take?
It varies by country and category, from about two weeks under the Global Talent Stream to several months for some LMIA based permits. We tell you the realistic timeline for your route before you start.
What is the difference between an employer specific and an open work permit?
An employer specific permit ties you to one employer, role, and location. An open permit lets you work for almost any employer in Canada. Which one you can get depends on your situation, not your preference.
Do I need a job offer?
For most permits, yes. The main exceptions are open permits, such as spousal open work permits, post graduation work permits, and bridging permits during a PR application.
Can a work permit lead to permanent residence?
Yes. Canadian work experience counts heavily in Express Entry and provincial programs. Many of our PR clients started on a work permit.
Can my family come with me?
Often, yes. Your spouse may qualify for an open work permit depending on your occupation, and your children can attend Canadian schools. We prepare the family's applications together with yours.

Josh was incredibly helpful throughout two work permits and our overall immigration process, guiding all of us (including two different employers) every step of the way. He made complicated immigration topics easy to understand and helped us choose the best strategy for our family's needs. Now we're proud Canadian citizens raising our two kids in Montréal.
